About Me

- Name: Thommy
- Location: Trissur, Kerala, India, Highlands Ranch, CO, United States
While young I enjoyed sketching people around and at school I was notorious for cartooning my teachers. My first cartoon appeared in print when I was 17 and over 1200 have now appeared in publications around the world that include Express, The Week, Onlooker & City Journal (India), India-New England, Malayalam Patram & New-Indian Express (USA), Malayalam News (UAE) and also CNN-TV. I am earned my Ph.D from IIT-M and currently involved in advancing new energy technologies. I am a recipient of UNESCO fellowship for promising young scientists and an author of ~ 75 papers & hold 12 patents. Cartooning keeps me creative in my relentless pursuit of excellence in R&D. Kerala Center (NY) honored me for “Extraordinary combination of talents as an Outstanding Scientist & Gifted Cartoonist”. Recently my cartoons have won the Union of Concerned Scientists contest (2008) & “Chemistry is Life & Everything” International Contest by UNESCO (2010). Lalithakala Academy selected one of my cartoons for the 2011-2012 Kerala state exhibitions. While at IIT, I met renowned cartoonist, Shri. R.K. Laxman who inspired me pursue both science & cartooning which is what I crave to do.
